Sheep and Goats and Nina

Spring break is underway in Oregon, which means we get a visit from Nina!
We introduced her to the neighborhood goats. The kids (2-legged) were delighted to visit with their friends, whose pasture is moving back towards our home. Mitch found his favorite, Goat #2, and we fed them lots of carrots.
Then Billy met us at the sheep pen and brought a day old lamb for us to snuggle. It bleated like crazy!
Inside the pen, the kids did some mutton busting, courtesy of Billy and Junebug. They loved it, Mitch especially!
Shan was quite interested in the lamb and the dog.
Nina snuggled the baby to sleep. It's a lot of work being away from home and frightened - Nina was just what the lamb needed.
We enjoyed our visit with Nina. She stayed through Wednesday morning and helped with kid care before and after school, as well as making us meals and hanging out. Now our break is approaching - bring it on!

Math Team

Mitch enjoyed doing Math is Cool this winter and got to participate in the math team competition in Wenatchee.
He and Cooper are good buddies and enjoy being in class together, too.
The competition is for 4th graders, but some of the 3rd graders got to attend as well. It was a fun experience!

Spring at Last!

In spaces of the yard where the drifts didn't form, grass has started to be dominant.
Today, for the first time, I got to be outside in weather that may have reached 50 degrees - unheard of only days ago! Bulbs are poking through and it was immensely satisfying to clean up at least two of the front beds.
Huzzah for the promise of spring!

Spring Skiing

One benefit to being socked in with snow still is that we get to ski more!
Up Chair 4 we go to start the day!
We were all smiles - it was warm and sunny, after all!
These two rode up together - they hung on, dropped no gear, and were rockstars!
After lessons, we took the kids up 4, and skied over to Chair 2 for the first time. It was fun to be on the lift all together!
The sun and the mountains were out in their glory! Bryan and I scouted a relatively easier route down from the top.
We made a stop at the Bomber Wing (no Prop Man sightings) and continued down the mountain. The kids did SO well that we went up Chair 3 before calling it a day!
They have improved so much this season. We hope to go up once, maybe twice more to enjoy this spring snow to its fullest!

College Sports

The Johnson men went to Seattle on Saturday for a shot of college athletics!
They started with a baseball game at Safeco, er, T-Mobile Park. It was chilly!
They watched OSU and Indiana before heading to their next arena.
It was senior night at HecEd and the Dawgs hosted the Ducks.
Mitchie wasn't feeling well, but he was a trooper and enjoyed watching the game, in spite of the anemic Husky offense.
Those were the only Ws for the night...On Sunday, BJ had an AD meeting and Mitch and Grandpa watched more baseball before they returned to the east side.
Meanwhile, on the east side, we're still stuck in winter!
