Spring Mish Mash

The beautiful weather has arrived!
Shannon is a bike-riding maniac! She likes to do "twicks" and is definitely ready for a pedal bike.
She also loves her new spring duds, including her sunglasses. Don't call them anything but "shades" though!
Mitchell is continuing to enjoy his role as batboy for Dad's team. He spends half of each inning in the dugout with the team, occasionally collecting their bats. I think his favorite part, aside from his very own emblazoned helmet, is shaking hands afterwards.
So much play wears a boy out! In spite of his non-listening trend and very obnoxious manners during the day, he's still a little boy with his favorite critters when sleep overcomes him.

Airport Field Trip

I got to accompany Mitchell on his class field trip to the airport today.
As we drove it, a helicopter was taking off, followed soon thereafter by another plane.
Mitch was the leader for the day so he got to do everything first. Here he looks to see the flaps on the tail and wings moving.
He also got to talk in the radio, which was exciting because it is like his walkie-talkie. He did notice the colors of the plane and told me it was a Duck plane. He managed to enjoy it in spite of the wrong colors!
The whole happy class!

T-ball Season

Mitchell is in tball this spring and he is very excited!
It pains his father to see the Hermiston Little League 'H' on the hat, but for simplicity's sake we are playing in town. At least the team colors are Stanfield approved!
Here he sports what seems to be a more correct hat (and also one that fits his big, brainy dome!).
Saturday morning there were opening ceremonies. Mitch had fun, and Shannon enjoyed the flights of fancy with her father.
Last night was the first game. It was fairly hilarious and Mitch declared it to be "awesome" afterward. He got a couple nice hits without clobbering the tee. He's a lefty at the plate!
Defense was where the hilarity came in. After every hit, all players rushed the ball. Mitch (8) and Carter (6) were quick to field it. Well, tackle would be a more appropriate word.
There are no outs in tball and no one keeps score. Every kid runs around the bases, one at a time. I "coached" third which meant I called to the kids on second and showed them where to run next. Here is Mitch coming in from second, full of focus.
Coach Sharp leads the team in a post-game cheer. All very exciting!

Easter 2015

We celebrate Easter today at our house!
The kids sang at church and were excited to go. It was much less somber than Good Friday's service. Duh.
Shannon helped bring flowers to church and she matched the hue perfectly!
The Johnsons in our shades of blue.
He reigns (rains?)! Eggs were hunted and they didn't even get too muddy. Without this day, no others would matter. Happy Easter!
