Birthday Weekend

Bryan's birthday was Friday and we enjoyed the chance to celebrate him!
He got to open some gifts after school and then he and his wifey went to dinner while the kids had fun with sitters. Saturday afternoon his family arrived.
We hiked up the hill behind our house and enjoyed the sunshine and spectacular view of the Basin.
Some kids hiked faster than others, but the slow ones are still cute!
We took some group shots at the top and then descended for dinner.
After our halibut and chips, we had cake for the birthday sibs.
The kids played together well and we all enjoyed time as a family. In years past, this weekend always marked the end of family time and the start of baseball time. Now that's different. Still, spring sports have begun and the promise of sunny afternoons and warmer weather is on the horizon. Happy birthday, BJ!

Enzian Weekend 2018

Once again we convened in Leavenworth for Presidents' Weekend. However, it started on Friday with Grama and Grampa Pobst moving into an apartment in East Wenatchee. Russ, Julie, Mom, Dad, Debbie and Dennis helped them move and it was a successful day.
Once at Leavenworth, we had a nice dinner, did some swimming, and went to bed early.
We awoke to 6 fresh inches of snow and more falling!
So we four headed to Enchantment Park to play in the snow.
We made a snow fort with balls taller than Shannon!
I cannot seem to rotate this pictures. Bah. We were quite proud of our fort, needless to say.
The kids and Bryan also did some sledding, which was very popular!

Flying hair and high-pitched squeals of joy!
We had to hit the hot tub and pool afterward. In total, the kids were swimming 7 times during the weekend!
It's no wonder this kid was tuckered that night!
After we bid adieu to Russ and Jules on Sunday morning, we went for a walk on Blackbird Island. There were fat flakes falling and the alpenhorn could be heard as we enjoyed a quiet, lovely stroll. The kids used the map to lead the way.

We couldn't help but swoon at the littles wanting to read together before bed.
Another successful stay at the Enzian. We found a new restaurant (Stein), visited the bookstore, read, played games, enjoyed friends and family, and adjusted to the new horn players now that Mr. Johnson has retired. Ready for next year already!
We stopped at GGP's new place on the way home and were happy to see them getting settled. They share a love story with many chapters.
