Swim Lessons

The kids are doing their first set of swim lessons to start the summer. It's fun to see how much they've improved over the last several years!
Shan gets to go first and she's the only girl in her class. She rocks it!
Working on her strokes with her aide at her side.
I love watching her listen and follow directions (and wish I saw that at home, too!).
Mitch's lessons are after Shannon's. Today as he was walking the pool deck, I was struck by how grown-up he looks.
 Such a cute face!
His preferred kick is the breast stroke kick and he smokes his class when racing. The other kicks, not so much, but he has time!
He did a really good breast stroke! I was impressed!

Neighborhood Triathalon

We had the First Annual Shady Acres Triathalon today!
Naturally, it was preceded by a BBQ potluck...
Then the racers took their marks and began the first leg. So much intensity in those faces!
Mitch chased Maddax with all he had. He felt that competing shirt-less would help him be faster in the run-to-swim transition.
Shan was a rockstar runner - all smiles!
The third leg was a down and back in the pool.
Happy triathletes!

School's Out!

And just like that, he's finished the 1st grade! Mitch had a great year in Miss Mayer's class. He made new friends, became a stronger reader, and is working on being a hard-working and honest student.
He also loves the Junior Joggers program and earned a plaque as one of the top 2 first graders (Cooper was the other) with 219 laps this year. Go, Mitchie!
The kids celebrated summer's arrival with their dad and a bowling game. Sweet shoes and lots of fun!

Golfing with Dad

Shan and Bryan went golfing at Oasis this afternoon - and it was her idea!

This girl loves one-on-one time!

June Goings On

June is nearing its midpoint and we've been busy! Both kiddos participated in little league this spring and it was a positive experience on both fronts!
Mitch played for Farmers Insurance and would tell you that they went undefeated. His team was coached by Jeremy V. and Rod F. and was full of friends and nice little boys. It was coach pitch - and SO nice not to be one of those coaches this year!
Shannon played her first organized sport in t-ball coached by RJ F, and Tyler D. She had a great time and was known for wearing purple shoes and wild socks, with a penchant for standing on/playing third base.
This past weekend was Sage-n-Sun in Ephrata and Mitchell wanted to run the 2-mile fun run. Run it he did! He didn't walk at all and beat his dad by a solid 3 minutes!
He even earned 1st in his age bracket with a time of 16:48! Way to go, Mitchie!
Meanwhile, Kim and I threw Rachel her first bridal shower in Spokane!
The little girls were happy to be in attendance, and devoured an inordinate number of mini cupcakes and Hershey's kisses.
Afterward, the girls got to release Haylee's birthday butterflies.
Such joy!
We are entering our final partial week of school with students. May it go smoothly . . . and quickly!

Welcome, June

June has arrived and we are looking at a week and a half of school left (with students). Come on, sweet summer! Saturday the Johnsons divided and conquered.
Shannon and I went south with my parents, dropping Dad off in Stanfield with my brother. The two of them are driving to Cheyenne, WY to retrieve a trailer.
Mom and I did some shopping (it was lights out...) while Shannon played with Lorry. The two of them needed some time together in a big way! Then we enjoyed visiting our Hermiston nursery for still more plants before returning home.
Meanwhile, Bryan and Mitch brought Vicki with them on a Mariners outing.
They enjoyed bp and all the fun inside the stadium before the game began.
Mitch scored a new Griffey shirt!

The game was a Mariner win, complete with Cruz bobble heads, a Cruz homerun, and a Zunino grand slam! Might need a return outing...
