Busy Week!

We are ending April with one of our busiest weeks on recent record! Bryan was gone for 3 nights to Spokane, I had meetings 2 nights (for a total of 6.5 hours!), I attended Shannon's parent-teacher conference, Mitch had baseball practice 2 nights, we had our small group meeting, helped with a track meet (last home meet of the season!!), and Friday the kids both had fun activities at school. Whew - and we lived to tell the tale!
Yesterday Grant did their bike rodeo. Mitch got to participate and did a great job on the skills course.
Then they all rode to Lions' Park. He and Casten rode their matching bikes together!
Shannon had her school pictures and smiled nicely for the camera. She was excited to take the class pictures, too!
They finally crashed, like puppies in a litter, and slept well. Let the weekend commence!

Crickets!

In an effort to earn some "street cred" with my students, I ate a cricket before class today.
H.R. brought some from Safeco Field and (of course) A.M. wanted to join me in tasting the little buggers.
They were crispy and flavored with chili-lime.
Crunchy. And I got a leg stuck in my teeth. The gag reflex did kick in, but I held it down and won't have to prove myself again! Or else, I've raised the bar for new levels of gross...

Resurrection Sunday

We celebrated Easter weekend fully around here! Friday evening we attended a sobering Good Friday service to set the tone. Then we had guests arrive on Saturday for some egg dying and BBQ.
The kids made quick work of dying the eggs.
The guys were responsible for BBQing the salmon and keeping the chairs occupied.
Yahtzee!
Easter morning was sunny and beautiful.
And the bunny found our new house - even before church!
Such enthusiasm!

Church was lovely - He is risen indeed!
Then we returned to Shady Acres to join the neighborhood egg hunt. Several hundreds of eggs were stashed in the park for residents and friends to find.
At the starting line...
and off to find the treasures!
These boys spotted a glittery egg in the tree - promising money rather than candy! It was an all out effort to get it.
Shan, with her ever-requested assistant Sue, found a glitter egg!
In spite of working with only one shoe, this egg hunter came up short in the glitter department. But, he scored a hug.
The cheering gallery
Delicious dinner at Allstots' and lots of sweets!
Sporting their new swim gear

Happy Easter to all!

The Bat Boy Returns!

We went south for day 1 of our spring break to watch the Stanfield Tigers take on Rainier in a rematch of last season's semifinal match-up. We parked and Mitch took off for the dugout, with a big grin. The boys, bless them, greeted him with high fives and cheers. He was in his element!
Mitch took up his station on the bucket and commenced chattering.
He usually remembered to retrieve the bats.
They won game one and Mitch celebrated with fist bumps.
It was emotional watching him blend seamlessly into the rhythm on the team.
He was "all in"
and spent time working on his grass stains between innings!
The weather wasn't awesome but the boys played hard throughout.

Mitch was cheering, "Atta boy, Fiver!" as Brody pitched for the second win.
High fives mean happiness!
