Baby Bry

Lest we forget the origins of Mitchell's good looks, here's a little reminder.

Grandma Betty

On Monday night, Bryan's Grandma Betty passed away. Her death was sudden and sad for those who remain, but for Betty, it was her final step to Heaven. Betty celebrated her 80th birthday this summer, making her the longest living member of her family. She was a funny, caring, delightful woman who will best be remembered for her love of Jesus, and her family.
At the age of 16, Betty married her husband Vic McMaster. She never tired of telling the story of their whirlwind romance! There was a happy reunion Monday night for sure!
Betty and Vic had three children - Venda, Vicki and Mike. They raised the kids in California and Washington, and sent them to Bible school in Canada. Betty's children were a source of pride for her throughout her life.

Betty had 11 grandchildren. Bryan was lucky to spend two and a half years living with her in Spokane as he finished college. The two of them had lots of adventures. This was when I got to know Betty better - and discovered what a scamp she was! Before we got married, Betty threw a private bridal shower for the two of us. It was eye opening, full of laughter, and something we'll never forget.

Another delight for Betty was her 7 great grandchildren. She loved them all and as they get older, they'll learn about their sweet great grandma who loved them and lived for the Lord.

This weekend we'll spend time remembering Betty's life with family. She was a remarkable woman, who will be sorely missed, but is warmly welcomed in Heaven.

Mini Sous Chef

What do you mean a child shouldn't stand on the kitchen counter?
Who says broccoli and socks don't mix?
What's wrong with a kid rearranging the spices?

Singing in the Rain

During a window of no rain, Mitch, my mom and I went for a walk to the park. Here's the not-a-baby-anymore kiddo enjoying himself.
Apparently puddle stomping is instinctive. He was wet up to his knees in no time, as you'll see in the final photo.
Time for rubber boots!

Mitch loved the bubble!

Oh the joy of being a small boy!

Feline Affection

Mitch loves Poly. Instead of just petting her, he likes to give her full body hugs, which end up being more of a tackle. She is uber tolerant, especially considering her snarky attitude.
This picture captures both attitudes so well - Mitch's delight at being able to be so close and Poly's disdainful forced tolerance.

And here is pure delight on Mitchell's part. He'd have stayed that way all morning if she'd let him.

Epiphany

At 17 months, he's a wild man. The other night we played chase for almost an hour before bed. I'm not sure who was more worn out as a result. Mitch wanted to wear the hat despite its tiny size. These pictures were taken as he raced past me squealing.

New Year's with the Allstots

We spent the last several days ringing in 2011 in Bend with the Allstot family. My parents rented a lovely house and we used it as a base for celebrations, exploring, and skiing.

Grampa and Grama Allstot got up with the early riser and let his parents sleep. The best gift! Here Mitch and his Gramps enjoy some breakfast.

Mitch loves his new rocking/bouncing horse from the grandparents!

Bryan, Mom, Russ and I enjoyed a great day of skiing at Mt. Bachelor to end 2010.

A fantastic view from the summit, followed by lots of snow and some serious work getting down the hill!

Mitch finally figured out how to open presents and he tore into the basketball hoop from Aunt Laci and Uncle Russ!

Mommy's boy! We watched Bryan's Huskies win the Holiday Bowl - whew!

Ah! A random dog makes off with our son!

Wait, he's not that random. Russ, Laci and Booth are awaiting the arrival of a new puppy in a few weeks.

All tuckered out. Vacationing is wonderful - and exhausting!
